Our Third Baby is THREE!

It is so hard to believe that Luke is THREE!

Weight: 34 lbs 4 oz (75%)
Height: 37 3/4 (75%)
Hair: whispy strawberry blonde
Eyes: Brown
Teeth: still 20 :)
Shoe Size: 8
Clothes Size: 3T pants, mostly 4T shirts
Nicknames: Lukie, Pookie, Pookie-Pants, Luke-the-Duke, LP,  Lukie Luke
the family, Green Blankie, Mickey Mouse, dancing, singing "imperial march"
Dislikes: being tied down
Favorite Food: mac & cheese--- pizza--- apples--- crackers--- yay for the apples because the rest of his diet is carb-based
Favorite Toys: He loves all of the cars and little people--- he's starting to get interested in Legos... I sense I Christmas present...
Favorite Books: Red Hat, Green Hat, Blue Hat by Sandra Boyton. The kid cracks up every. single. time. we read it.
Favorite Things to Watch: Mickey & Octonauts are still preferable, however he LOVES Qua-Quem (McQueen) and Cars now.
Words: He's a talker now--- but it's mostly Luk-ese and people usually need us to translate.
Other New Tricks: He's a ball of energy. He love to be around his siblings (and is super sad now that Annabelle goes to school every day). He loves to help and is starting to find his own voice. He's mostly potty-trained now, only nights with pull-ups.
What's next: Enjoying his first year at preschool... Making sure the potty training sticks so he can go into the kids club on the cruise in December.
How he drives us crazy: He's still a messy, messy boy. He'll make ANYTHING a mess. It's a gift, I think. He's starting to react emotionally to things, so we're trying to teach how to deal with that... wish us luck.
Why he's so awesome: He's still very chill. He brings a great temperament to the family--- maybe he'll be the peacemaker, I don't know. He loves to make up stories and, so far, loves preschool. He's so adventurous and full of life.

Nine Months of Malcolm

STATS: Weight:  19 lbs 5.5 oz (50%)  Length: 26.5 inches long (30%)   Head Circ: 17.5 inches (50%)

SLEEP:  The last couple months have been AMAZING. Ever since we stopped nursing, the kid has slept like a champ. He has two naps a day between 1-3 hours; one is usually longer than the other. Some days his morning nap becomes a series of cat naps in the car because we're out running errands--- (oh the life of a fourth baby).  At night, he usually sleeps from 8ish to 8ish--- depending on how bed time unfolds with the older kids.

FOOD:  This boy sure loves his bottle. If he's hungry and he's anywhere near a bottle, you can be sure he will want it and let you know how bad he wants it. He has anywhere between 30 and 45 ounces a day. He's still a little slow with the baby food. He's got a lot of different kinds under his belt, but he doesn't like to eat them in a big stretch--- he'll get through about 2 oz before he starts getting mad. This month he tried mango, green beans, mixed veggies, yogurt bites, and puffs. He loves the yogurt bites and puffs; I think it's because he loves to feed himself. He's been my slowest eater--- in the transitioning to new food aspect--- so it'll be interesting to see how he develops.

PLAYING/TOYS: He loves to play. It is the main reason he worm crawls all over--- that and trying to get to me if I put him down. The kids are currently struggling with remembering to put small toys up so the baby doesn't get to them--- or destroy their creations. He loves to bounce in his bouncer and recently started enjoying peek-a-boo. He has a dinosaur teether that pretty much goes with us everywhere because he loves to eat it.

PERSONALITY: He has such a get-up-and-go personality. He loves to be apart of the action and DOES NOT like it when he's not. I'll try to put him down in the living room so I can do dishes or change the laundry and one of two things happen: 1. he stiffens his legs so I can't sit him up, so I lay him on his tummy to crawl and he cries or 2. his legs bend so I can sit him up to play, I start to walk away and he cries. I don't necessarily think he wants me to hold him all the time, I just think he wants to be where the action is. He's very happy and inquistive; he recently discovered the springing door stoppers (which are now all put up again). He also loves to crawl to the bathrooms, don't ask me why, but he does. When I kiss attack him, he doesn't suck on my face anymore :( , however, I think he's trying to kiss me now because he just attacks me with his drooly lips. He also started shaking his head back-and-forth, so the kids like to ask him yes-and-no questions just to be silly.

MILESTONES:  9/10 third & fourth teeth *** 9/12 pulled himself up *** 9/2 attempted to scoot down the couch ** 9/11 stayed on knees to crawl *** 9/3 walks around by holding hands ** 8/23 First ear infection

RANDOM:  He's FINALLY completely on the charts! I can't believe how much he's grown. When we were waiting for his appointment today, one of the other parents commented on how big he was; I mentioned he was a preemie and she said, "well you can't tell anymore." Doctor even said, "well, now who remembers him ever being small and why were we worrying?" So happy he's growing so well.

He got over his first ear infection just in time to get his first double ear infection--- I have sneaky suspicion it has to do with him doubling his total teeth in this past week.  Also, he still almost exclusively spits up through his nose, so we're getting a referral to go to the pediatric ENT who did Jared's surgery a couple years ago. Just to make sure everything developed properly under his double uvulas. So, we'll see how that goes.

I know I've said it before, but I'm saying it again: he's growing up so fast. I love this baby phase of learning and exploration--- it's my favorite baby phase--- but he's already trying to stand alone and stay standing. I would not be surprise if this kid walks before his first birthday. He proved from birth that he's wanted to do the next thing, but it's going by so fast. I try to remind myself (and outloud to Greg) to enjoy the time we're in right now--- I'll let you know how that turns out.
