Leftovers

Here are the leftovers from the Big Visit (I think it will be forever known as that). A few highlights:
  • When Greg had to work, we decided to venture out to the temple. It was a good thing too because I ended up getting one of his birthday presents.
  • Jared loved reading and playing blocks with his grandparents.
  • We celebrated a late Gpa and early Greg birthday while everyone was in town. Jared even helped them blow out the candles.
  • Belle rolled over---from back to tummy---for the first time while everyone was here. Everyone was so thrilled you would have thought she won an Olympic medal. :)
  • Jared had his first rib on our second excursion to Rudy's. He seemed to enjoy it.
  • He also enjoyed the Creamy Jalapeno dip at Chuy's (we obviously ate out too much and are still trying to recover from that).
We had so much fun, however, after two weeks we are still recovering. In fact, Jared frequently mentions everyone's names---as if to see if they'll magically show up. I have to remind him that they live in Washington/California/Utah. It's a good thing I've got a couple more until our next visitors come. :)

A Muppet Love Affair

Both of my folks have I-Phones. When they visited last April, they started using the phones to calm Jared down on the way back from Salt Lick (he was sick of being in the car). This time, because of Jared's vocabulary explosion and inquisitive nature, he could request and/or start looking for them. What would he watch, you ask? The Muppets, first and foremost---specifically Beaker, Bohemian Rhapsody, the Chickens, or Mahna Mahna. (By the way---if you haven't seen BR, I highly recommend it---especially if you're a Queen fan).

Since his mind is a sponge right now, he hasn't forgotten about the Muppets. We get daily requests to watch 'Beaker'---he says it pretty clear, so sometimes, it's hard to resist.

So, now, we have a serious Muppet lover is our house---thanks alot, Oba & Jiji.

Park Love: Revisited

Jared took his MeMa, DeDa, and uncles to one of his favorite places: the park. The kid really can't get enough of it---even if the equipment says 'children five and older'--- some rules are meant to be broken. :)

Balloon MaQeen

The last night my aunt and uncle were in town (right before everyone else came) they took us out to dinner. About halfway through, Jared showed his true colors as a toddler and started freaking out. Enter the Balloon lady. She asked us what Jared would like; us--hoping and praying, can you make Cars? She said, how about Lightning McQueen? My response was something along the lines of being our hero if she could do that.

Jared was a bit apprehensive at first, until he saw the wheels, after that he wouldn't stop saying 'Maqeen.' This glorious balloon helped us through dinner, then stuck around for a couple more days, until air pressure was finally getting the best of him. Jared dealt with it just fine, in fact, he didn't even notice because he had a house full of playmates---crisis averted. :)

Here he is in all his glory:

Belle's Blessing

In our family, this Valentine's Day will remember not because of heart-shaped food but because it was Annabelle's blessing day. A few notes from the day:
  • She was one of FOUR babies blessed in our ward that day---she happened to be the oldest of the bunch.
  • She wore mine and my sister's blessing dress. It was very beautiful for being 25+ years old.
  • We had lots of family show up. My aunt and her family came over from Houston; Barb from Georgetown; and cousin's from Spring Branch. We appreciated having our family, and friends, there to participate in her blessing.
  • After church, we had the family come back to our house for lunch. We spent time visiting, taking pictures, and eating (of course). FYI---if you live in TX Salt Lick BBQ sauce on BBQ Chicken Pizza is insanely delicious!
  • During the pictures, we were able to take a Four Generations picture---all girl style!
Greg gave Belle a beautiful blessing; we look forward to watching her grow and fulfill those words. She has added so much to our family in the past three and a half months; she has such a calm and sweet personality. She is adored by all three of us and we very grateful she joined us.

Greg's Birthday Songs

Greg started the day singing this song (sung to the Birthday Song in Emperor's New Groove):
Happy Happy Birthday
From all of you to me
Happy Happy Birthday
Because I'm TWENTY THREE

Too bad his math skills were a little rusty...
At the end of the day, it became this song:
Happy Happy Birthday
The day was really great
Happy Happy Birthday
I'm really TWENTY EIGHT

At least we know he had a good day... I think it was because this was one of his presents...Happy Birthday, babe, We love you!

Remember the Alamo--AGAIN?!?

We had lots of fun with our visitors, so much fun in fact, I'm splitting the visit into three posts: Saturday, Sunday and Before/After those days.

Saturday was the first full day of having all of the visitors who were staying at our house here. We had: Oba, Jiji, Z, Park, MeMa, DeDa, Gma & Gpa with us--- that's SEVEN other people plus our Quartet. Since a lot of our visitors hadn't been downtown in a few years, we decided that would be our adventure of the day. I had learned from my downtown adventure the previous Monday that Jared was not a toddler who would fall asleep in his stroller; so we waited until after naptime to begin.

Some of the highlights included:
  • Walking around the very large and very old Live Oak by the Alamo.
  • Picking leaves with MeMa.
  • Reading the plaque of the the 'supposed' demise of Davy Crockett.
  • Belle getting a new girly hat because Mama wasn't smart enough to grab one before we left.
  • Getting a new book called 'Good Night Texas'---it's official we're now Texans. :)
  • Stumbling upon the MardiGras River Parade--- whoops--- you think we would have figured it out with all of the people sitting along the Riverwalk. :) Jared had a love/hate relationship with the parade; he loved getting the beads, seeing the ducks, dancing, and pointing out the fake alligator-- but didn't so much like the extra loud drums/music. Belle could have cared less. :)
  • Heading to FreeBirds for dinner where Jared and Belle BOTH had poopy diapers and Jared mooched off of everyone's dinner.
We had a very fun day and here's the photographic evidence:

Sneak Peek

Now that we've survived the week of visitors, the challenge becomes getting back into our routine. Once I sort through the pictures, I'm sure I'll have plenty to say, but for now here's a peek:
Saturday, we became Tour-Guide Barbie & Ken (in my world they're still together) for the second time in a week and went Downtown to the Alamo and Riverwalk.

This is a shot of EVERYONE who stayed in our home during the week. Yes, it was crazy. Yes, it was loud. And, yes it was worth it.

Annabelle's Blessing

Helotes Ward
San Antonio, TX
Taken from notes by Mema

Heavenly Father,

By the authority of the Melchizedek Priesthood which we hold, we give this infant a name by which she will be known on the church records as Annabelle Leigh...

We bless that you will learn and grow in life.

We bless that you will be strong in the gospel.

We bless that you will be able to make correct decisions and to choose correct paths.

We bless that you will marry a worthy man in the temple.

We bless you with physical strength that you will overcome sicknesses and ills of the world.

We bless you with knowledge and learning in the university you choose that you can provide for your future family.

We say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Ador-a-Belle

Isn't she cute?

She now laughs, sucks her thumb, almost rolls over, has grown out of her 0-3 month clothes length-wise AND, along with her brother, is the focus of visiting family over this week.

We can't get enough of our little Annabelle.

A Frog & a Cat

Surprise! Last week, the kids got one last Christmas present in the mail.

Jared got a frog. He loves to make it hop and says that it goes 'bbit.'
Annabelle got a cat; which is currently the same size. I had to end up hiding it from Jared because he was dragging both animals around and ended up making Mr. Cat lose a couple whiskers.
Thanks Granni & Grandad!

For your viewing pleasure--all smiles (and giggles) now:

Letters

Last Christmas, I made Jared a present. I really wanted to keep it a tradition of making the kids a present, so a week before Christmas (remember I recently had a baby) I started. Funny enough this was around the same time Belle started sleeping longer, coincidence, I think not.

Anyway, last week I finally finished it. I made them Alphabet Magnets. I know Belle isn't quite at the developmental level for them, but Jared thinks they're a hoot! I finished during a nap time and as soon as we got to the bottom of the stairs Jared wanted down and bee-lined for the fridge. I don't know how he saw the fridge, but I'm glad he did.

It made the countless hours of doing the blanket stitch worth it. Of course, I took a picture. And, if you're lucky, Gweg will post the video later on in the week. :)
