New Home Nesting

Sorry about the lack of pictures, but the office isn't fully set up yet and the mini-drive I use to transfer pictures is in one of the tubs of 'Greg's office stuff to sort'---so pictures will be missing for a day or two more.

Currently, we are all working on getting things done before the arrival of baby girl. Moving kick started the same joys/experiences I had with Jared in the last month of pregnancy (see post 1, 2, & 3),---basically anything I do starts regular painful contractions for a couple hours and then they stop--- so we all decided to start nesting---home organization style!

Greg (who I personally think is nesting more than me) is focused on painting. He wants to finish the downstairs this week and IF POSSIBLE paint baby girl's room before she comes (she won't be sleeping in there for a month or two so we can give it time to air out and settle). This past weekend, he, along with a friend, installed a garage door opener. Now my car has a home!

I've spent the last week organizing and going through boxes. It feels so nice to have a permanent home for things. I'm actually at the point where I can start hanging up things in rooms where painting is on hold until later or already done. I've also broken in my kitchen and we're having the missionaries over for our second annual Halloween-y feast tonight.

Jared is loving all of the new room. He spends time running around in the living room; reorganizing the play room and banging unbreakable pots in the cupboard he's allowed into when I'm cooking. He's also become a baby-signing fool! It's pretty cool; one week we didn't think he'd ever sign and the next we're teaching him a new sign each day. He's also pretty good at repeating one or two syllables of a word. With this also comes fits of frustration because we all understand each other, but he still doesn't get what he wants (like taking Indy Potato Head to church).

Another exciting thing coming up for Jared is nursery! He tried play hour last week; will do snack/lesson hour this week and then it's his first nursery Sunday! Our little baby is a little boy--- just in time for another one... yikes... :)

Let me sum up: Pictures will come soon, Greg's nesting more than me, I'm in constant labor, Jared is a toddler and we can't wait to meet our little girl!

We survived the weekend (completed check list and all---even though the missionaries and one other wonderful friend showed up to help) and now we live in our house.

It's so nice to say 'our' house...

BIG THANKS to DeDa for coming out and helping us---we wouldn't have survived without you.

Now our days are full of unpacking and Jared running around like a crazy wild man because he has so much room.

Yep, we all love 'our' house... now it's time to make it a home.

  • Get our keys (check)

  • Go up to Austin to pick up a few things
We are VERY excited to be homeowners---we just need to survive the weekend!

34 Weeks

Last week, when I went to my normal visit, my doctor was a little concerned with the fact I was measuring a couple weeks behind. So, I had a ultrasound today to check up on little girl. (NOTE: We didn't want to tell anyone because we didn't want others to worry unnecessarily).

Little girl is doing great. The wonderful technician (who heated up the gel so it wouldn't be freezing on my belly) said she looks healthy and fantastic. She measured all her little parts and little girl is still right on track. In fact, if the estimation is right and we continue to grow at this rate, little girl will be about the same size as her big brother. The technician said I am probably measuring small because little girl is really low; I could have told her that!

A bonus with getting an ultrasound is that we got pictures, so without further delay, our little girl, who will make her debut in roughly SIX WEEKS!!!

She wouldn't move her hand out of her face...until this picture... we think she looks like Jared, but with fuller lips. :)

Pumpkin King

I wanted to get Jared a Halloween shirt but didn't want or need to spend any extra money. Enter freezer paper! For a total of $3.50, I got a long sleeve black shirt and white acrylic paint and made this:
Isn't he cute?
I also posted on the craft blog, check it out!

It's pretty much the extent of being Halloween-y here because we're moving in four days!!!

Mr. October

Guess who this house is rooting for this postseason?

Too bad it didn't help them hold on last night... :(

They can still pull it off---we won't stop cheering until the last out is recorded!

Not Yet

We were supposed to close on the house today...

Well, due to banks not liking each other, we had to push it back to next Thursday.

We're bummed, but at least our fridge will be there and we'll be able to paint our living room before officially moving in the following Saturday.

So, we're not homeowners yet, but we will be... soon...

Mule 'n Nag Crafts

My sister and I are big time crafters, so like the rest of the crafting world, we started a blog.

I really want to keep my projects separate from my family blog, just in case someone googled a project and found us. I came across this problem when another crafter wanted to post a link to the Quiet Book I made for Jared and I wanted to help others, but didn't want our blog on display.

Basically, it's my attempt to keep my family blog as private as possible. I wrangled Megan into it because it's nice to have another person jump in the deep end with me AND she's WAY more talented than I'll ever be.

So, if you ever want to see what we do with our 'free time' (as much as a Mommy and College Student can get) check us out!

Remember, it's just starting out---it'll get better with time!
