House Update

  • Greg & a friend spent a Saturday wiring the house for networking
  • The Brick and Stone is done (as seen above) and we love it!
  • As of yesterday evening, the drywall was almost done. I walked in and almost cried because it looked great!
  • Tile, cabinets, and painting should all be done while we're in Cali for 10 days... AND...
  • Our house will be MOVE-IN ready in ONE month---just in time for our earliest pre-set closing date of OCTOBER 1st!!!

Starting Young

I took this a couple weeks ago when I was in the kitchen making dinner...

I shouldn't be too worried, yet... right?

Five Years of Gweg-bo

Then...and... Now... well, May at least (the only picture of just us this year, so far)
What are we doing to celebrate, you ask, flying to Seattle to visit the folks until Tuesday.

It's not the pale moon that excites me... I love you honey bunny... always and forever yours

'Quiet' Accomplishment

After two weeks of spending my extra time sewing, hand-sewing, ironing, cutting, cursing felt and a missing zipper foot, I did what I set out to do--- I made a quiet book for our kids.

My original goal was to have two done by today (we go out of town tomorrow for a few days and then go back out of town just shortly after that); one for Jared and our trips and another for his friend who turns 1 next week. Alas, I did not get the present done (I'm about half-way and plan on finishing when we get back), but I got Jared's done just in time for our long plane rides.

It's not perfect, but I made it and that makes it all worth it.

I used a lot of resources, most stemming from the blog: How to Make a Quiet Book. I changed a bunch of things to my liking, however, I recommend this site for anyone who is silly enough to attempt their own. I'll expound on mine later, maybe even throw in a couple of templates, but, for now, I'm off to make one more quick thing before I pass out.

Here are the pages:

All of them pre-sewing binding

The finished numbers page (yay for Gweg and his mad knot-tying skills or this page would still be unfinished)

One of the very few pictures of us last year after Jared was born... I try to hide these types of pictures, but not this week! :)

We have a new goal: Take a picture of just us at least every couple of months...

Spirituality

One of my friends started a Spirituality blog. Six fellow LDS women, along with myself, each take a day and write about a spiritual thought we've been having--- daily devotional type stuff. It has been a nice addition to my spiritual growth.

My day is Wednesday and today I wrote about Gweg--- so I thought I'd think to the post because---apparently--- it's all about us this week.

It's also my excuse to forget to get an anniversary card---even though Gweg already surprised me with roses... :)

Gweg-bo: 2004 & 2005

Our FIFTH anniversary is Friday and in honor of that I thought it would be fun to post a random (maybe never before seen) picture from each year... starting at the beginning...

2004: Gweg came out to meet my family for the first time (i.e. ask my Dad if he could marry me) for the Fourth of July. Since, he'd never been to St. Louis before we showed him the sights, including the temple. At this point, we still thought we were going to get married in December in St. Louis. Seven weeks after this picture was taken, we were married---in Utah.

2005: I took Gweg to the Arch & his first Cardinals game. We couldn't get into either on his first trip, so we tried again when we came out for Z's graduation. This is us waiting in line at the Arch.

Tom Bishop: 1929 - 2009

DeDa posted a lovely obituary on Papa here.

We wish we could be there in person, but we're definitely there in our hearts.

A Roller Coaster Week

Jared is now 15 months old (and as energetic as ever)...

I'm still crafting (last week's craft---we finally laminated a bunch of gospel pictures, with descriptions on the back, for Jared to look through at church.) I'm not posting this week's because it's a gift and I don't want to ruin the surprise...

The house is still coming along (this is yesterday)...
Greg went to California for a quick visit (Tuesday night to Wednesday night) to see his Papa before he passed away yesterday. Papa was a wonderful man and thanks to the knowledge of the gospel, we know he still lives. It may stink for us still on the earth, who are left without his presence temporarily, but he's no longer suffering... and he's probably still cracking knee-slapping jokes. We love and will miss you Papa. (This picture is from Christmas)

Sixty Days...

Or Less---we will be living in our house! A new phrase in our family is, 'well, when we move to the house...' We are seriously done with apartment living and I can't wait to have more room for Jared to run around. Since the construction meeting, we've been going out to the house at least once a week.

As of yesterday, here's what it looked like:

We couldn't be more excited!

We were so amazed to see it go up so fast. So far, the process has been great. The construction manager is very open and willing to hear our input. For those who care, the rest of the house:

Gweg takes a picture of the outside from the same spot each time we go out, so we'll put the newest one on the sidebar.

Now that the house is coming along, I can't help but think about adding Baby Girl A (yes, it's intentional---Jared was known as 'baby j' before he was born---look it up) shortly after. Not that her turning my organs into her personal punching bags hasn't reminded me of her presense.

Even though it's crazy hot, fall is just around the corner and we couldn't be more excited.

P.S. Happy Anniversary, Ash & Jer!

New Crib

About a month ago, I got an alarming email from Babies R Us; Jared's crib had been recalled. Basically, the drop side was coming loose in some models and causing kids to suffocate. Since we knew we'd be using the crib for some time we thought it would be best to call the store.

Our local BRU and told them how we bought our crib in Wisconsin, have been using it for 14 months, and (to top it off) didn't originally buy it from a BRU. They said no problem; as long as our crib model is on the list, the store would give us equivalent credit to get a quality crib. Jared has loved his new bed. It converts to a toddler bed, however, we don't see that happening for a while, as it will become Baby A's bed at the beginning of the year.

Here it is in all it's beautiful glory:
We also had to get a changing table (mainly for storage purposes) because our original crib was a combo model. Now we have a much larger space for changing and Jared practices his name whenever he needs a new 'piper.'

Stay tuned for updated house pictures!!! :)

Inside the Box

One of Jared's newest climbing trick is climbing into his toy boxes.

Exhibit A:

Exhibit B:
At least he's not thinking (or doing other things) inside them... :)
