First Sunday

We've already been to our new ward and it's great! It's small and everyone is super friendly. There's a great spirit of friendship and love. In our first day we met loads of new faces, signed up to help another family move in, decided to go to enrichment that's on Tuesday, PLUS we were asked to team-teach the 16-17 year olds next week---with the lesson being on the Crucifixion!

I'm really excited for the opportunity to teach (almost drooling) but feel very small in comparison to the magnitude of what they want us to teach about. The atonement and crucifixion is central part to one's belief in Christ and I sure hope that we will do the best we can. I'm sure Greg has a few more concerns that I do (considering he didn't go to school to learn how to teach effectively) but little does he know that I know he's going to do a fantastic job because I know of his beautifully simplistic testimony.

Long story short--- we're excited for the opportunities to serve and grow in our new ward!!!

Birthday Pictures

Since we were moving from Utah, I wanted to go to Lagoon for my birthday. We had a blast! My grandparents and aunt showed up half-way through the day and made the day that much more fun.

It had been around 13--or so--- years since I had been to Lagoon and obviously it changed alot! One of the things that didn't change was getting the chance to take Old-time pictures in Old-Frontier. So, Greg and I took the chance (left). It was so much fun! We took a picture where I held my gun up to Greg's chin and everyone laughed at it, but it wasn't one of the pictures they chose to give us. We ended up getting the same pose in sepia and color.

After Lagoon, we went home for birthday cake and games. Since the new Harry Potter movie was supposed to come out on my birthday (and the book in a week), I wanted a Harry Potter birthday cake. It was one of the coolest cakes I've seen--- and eaten. After cake, we played a little bit of Harry Potter scene-it before everyone got tired. Overall, it was a great day to turn 23.

Favorite Harry Potter Quotes (SPOILERS)

Greg & I have both read the whole series and this past week was the end of an era. I went with Ash, Megan (my sister), and Jenni to the midnight party at Borders last Friday/Saturday. It was lots of fun and very unforgettable. We ate blood pops, made wands, listened to the band Harry Potter and the Lightning Bolts, got temporary tattoos, and a little after midnight received the ending to the "epic tale of Harry Potter." The book was everything I wanted and more. I've had such an amazing time reading this series; it reminded me how much I love to read.

In honor of the completion of the Harry Potter series, I'm requesting that anyone who has read the series to comment with some of their favorite Harry Potter quotes (funny, inspiration, etc). Please put the book after the character that said it. Here's a couple of ours:

“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”
---Albus Dumbledore, Chamber of Secrets

"Excuse me, are you the imprint of a departed soul?" ---Ron, Half-Blood Prince

"Why worry about You-Know-Who when you should be worrying about-- U-No-Poo-- The constipation sensation that's gripping the nation"
---Fred & George, Half-Blood Prince

"Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all, those who live without love. By returning, you may ensure that fewer souls are maimed, fewer families are torn apart. If that seems to you a worthy goal, then we say goodbye for the present." ---Albus Dumbledore, Deathly Hallows

"You Dare..." "Yes, I Dare..." ---Voldemort & Harry during the Final Confrontation in Deathly Hallows

Welcome to Madison!

Well... we're finally in Madison, Wisconsin! We moved out of our Wymount Apartment on Monday almost completely on our own. Only one person showed up from our old ward and to top it off I had a bad morning. We were grateful that he came to help, but we thought more people would come to help considering we live in Wymount for two-and-a-half years. Oh, well. People have busy lives.

Luckily, Ash & Jer came to help during their lunch break. It was so hard to say good-bye to them in the first place and then to have them save the day like that it was wonderful and sad at the same time. I tried hard not to cry because I had cried the night before when we hung out with Jenni & Corey for the last time. (I don't think they will ever realize just how much they meant to me during my college years)

Even though I tried not to cry--- I did. For most of the last decade, Ash & I have lived close to each other. It's going to be hard to call her and then realize, either of us can stop by and visit to continue the conversation face-to-face. It's been a rare weekend that we haven't seen Ash & Jer or Jenni & Corey sometime during the weekend, so we'll see how this goes...

Nonetheless, Greg & I are both very excited to be in Madison. Our journey started out at 530pm Monday (even though we started packing the truck at 9am) so we didn't get as far as we wanted to in the first day. We stayed in Wyoming the first night and then Des Moines the second (we drove all day on Tuesday). With the truck pulling our car it was impossible to go over 65 mph. We had fun on our slow journey and made it to Madison Wednesday afternoon.

A few gentlemen from our new ward came to help us move in and it was such a blessing because then I was able to get unpacking right away. The last few days have been as follows: get up late from a tiring evening of unpacking---eat---unpack---set up---go to the store---eat---unpack---set up---little computer time--- fall asleep on couch---go to bed. Repeat. Today's the first day that I've had time to set this blog up.

The main reason we decided to start a blog is: as of right now we don't live very close to our families (and friends) anymore, so we want to keep everyone updated about our lives. I'll (Amber) probably be narrating our adventures and/or adding my two senses about things I love because the blog was my idea. As of right now that's our lives and we're excited to start another chapter to our adventure!
